This is a Winged Elm, also known as a Witch's Elm. It is named because as such because of its feathery like shape. This leaf has been transformed into copper via electroforming.
Legends say that the first elm grove rose up in celebration when the Greek hero Orpheus rescued his wife Eurydice from the clutches of the underworld. Enchanting his wife’s captors with the beautiful music of his harp, he stopped along the way to play a love song, marking the very spot the elm grove sprang up. Thus, this beautiful tree symbolizes love, death, and the underworld.
It is delicate, so care should be taken not to bend, and store in a jewelry box to maintain its form.
?? Sealing Option: This piece is free from patina leaving the beautiful rose gold look of the original copper beneath, that can be brightened and polished, time after time. You can choose to add sealer to prevent tarnish or copper reactions/allergies.
